We are excited to offer a new treatment for headaches, combining a traditional Sphenopalatine Ganglion Block with the technology of Lyftogt Perineural Injection Treatment®.
The sphenopalatine ganglion is a grouping of nerves that is linked to the trigeminal nerve – the main culprit involved in headaches. If you apply numbing medications or local anesthetic to the SPG, it can help reduce pain related to headache or facial pain. A traditional sphenopalatine ganglion block involves application of an anesthetic solution either on a cotton swab or with a targeted injection through the face. More recently, these procedures have become less invasive, opting for an intranasal (up the nose) approach.
SPG + Lyftogt P.I.T.®
At Boost, we are combining a SPG block with the technology of Lyftogt Perineural Injection Treatment®. For full information on Lyftogt P.I.T.® please click here. We use a buffered, diluted, glucose solution and it is introduced up the nose and applied directly to the sphenopalatine ganglion.
The solution used works to respond to neurogenic inflammation and restore homeostasis to the internal environment of the nerve. It “calms down” the nerves and allows them to return to their normal state. Restoring the nerves helps decreases pain related to headaches.
Safe and Effective
Dr. Mulcahy is one of a handful of providers that offer this treatment option. It is safe, quick and effective, with the procedure itself lasting only ten minutes. Many patients will experience almost immediate relief from acute headache symptoms. Some patients come in for these treatments when they feel a headache coming on, and it keeps severe symptoms at bay.
Whatever your situation related to headaches, a sphenopalatine ganglion block at Boost could be the treatment you’ve been looking for.
